Angling Web Sites 2014 Review
The number of angling sites on the web is now extensive and using a search engine such as Google soon brings up many angling related sites.
To access any of the sites mentioned below type the usual www. followed by the bolded site address such as idleandthackaa.supanet.com which has a page full of links to many other UK club sites and up to the moment news about the clubs activities. Other local clubs site include bradfordno1.com, contains comprehensive information about their waters matches and includes some useful maps etc. Others local Club sites are www.bingleyanglingclub.co.uk and www.bradfordcityaa.co.uk.
Searches for individual items of tackle have much improved as many dealers are now on-line. Tackle 2 U at Manchester Rd Bradford can be found on www.tackle2u.com and North West Angling Centre from Wigan at nwac.co.uk are the most local to us. Another comprehensive site which I have personally used is wmac.co.uk. For value rod and reel combos Chapmans Angling always have some good offers at chapmansangling.co.uk. Some really cheap tackle deals and special offers are nearly always available at dragoncarpdirect.com. Others identified included fishing warehouse.co.uk, tacklebargains.co.uk, swifys-fishing-tackle.co.uk, www.anglingdirect.co.uk and fishingrepublicpublic.net. As with all web purchases do some price comparisons and check carefully all the trading terms including delivery charges etc. Also check the site security / policy of bank and personal details before purchasing etc. Useful angling related public agency sites include environment-agency.gov.uk. A very useful addition by this Agency is an up to date river level information on all rivers nationally. This is updated several times a day and is much more useful than the old premium rate telephone river call system and most importantly its free. You are also able to access several points on each river to get an overall view of the levels at different locations. The site is a must for all river anglers in bad weather conditions guiding you to the fishable areas. See Yorkshire River levels at environmentagency.gov.uk/homeandleisure/floods/riverlevels/120539.aspx. See also british-waterways.co.uk for up to date information about canals.
The National Angling Organisation is now the Angling Trust see anglingtrust.net . There is also a very good site dedicated to disabled anglers on bdaa.co.uk .
Some sites cover all aspects of angling and include useful information about tips, venues, club information etc. Some of the better examples well worth a visit include fishingmagic.com , anglingnews.net and wheretofishuk.co.uk . Some National Angling publications now also have web sites such as Angling Times gofishing.co.uk and Anglers Mail anglersmail.co.uk .
